Kerry Garvey has been a painter, sculptor and photographer. His painting is characterized by unique handling of impasto textures, combined with glazes in rich oil colours. His sculptural works are comprised of found objects or assemblages of throw away materials, often industrial waste or by-products, transformed through processes of tradition (carving, painting, and gilding) and ritual (burning, and composting). As a photographer, Kerry explores landscapes and personal scapes seeking the auspicious in the mundane.
"The image of our world always seems to elude our definitions; as soon as we define it or make a conclusion as to its nature, what we see seems to change." It is that protean nature of perception that inspires Kerry's artistic enquiry.
